About me
hey, im fiona!
I know that chronic pain can take you to some dark places. I want you to know that there is hope if you have chronic pain, and that you can find ways to feel better.
I’ve had chronic pain since having an injury over 20 years ago. Over the course of those years, I’ve become much better able to manage the pain, and have gone on to have a fulfilling life.
I’m a qualified counselor with an MSc in Counseling and a BSc (hons) in Psychology. My specialty is helping people who have chronic pain.
I have worked with many clients who’ve had problems with living with chronic pain, helping them to navigate pathways around the obstacles that pain had placed in their lives, so that they were able to achieve their goals.
In my personal journey with chronic pain, I’ve consulted with a wide array of medical professionals and complementary therapists.
I have seen doctors, physiotherapists, an orthopedics consultant, specialist pain consultants and nurses, a psychologist, chiropractor, osteopath, and a reflexologist.
Every one of those experts has helped me in their own way.
I’ve participated in chronic pain management support groups as a pain patient, and have experienced many different medical and complementary treatments.
Over the course of many years, I’ve taken my learning from all of those healthcare professionals and other chronic pain patients, and along with my own experience of discovering and trying different things, have managed to navigate my way through chronic pain. My regret is that it took so much time. That is why I am passionate about helping others to navigate the process and issues that arise.
I don’t like to think of others suffering with chronic pain for so many years, and having to put all of the pieces together by trying and trying again like I did.
Chronic pain can cause problems across all areas of your life – and those other areas of your life can affect your experience of the pain.
Here at Piloting Pain, I am building a resource that is accessible to everyone, to help people with chronic pain and their loved ones with all of the problems with living that chronic pain can cause.
My goal is to help those whose lives are being controlled by pain to be able to rise above the pain, so they can take control of the direction they want to go in their lives.
Fellow chronic pain pilots, welcome to Piloting Pain!
